On the 29th of March we hosted a meetup on Java & Scala drops in the cloud. An event with two speakers who took us through microservices and Google’s Cloud platform. Those of you who attended had the chance to see a live demo, but luckily these demos are also available for those who hadn’t found the time to come.

Jesper de Jong

Jesper de Jong is an independent, experienced software developer and architect who develops efficient and scalable software for JVM. He likes to share his knowledge by giving presentations and is author at Pluralshift. At the moment Jesper works at the Gemeente Rotterdam via Spilberg.

In spring boot there are only objects, no static keywords like in Java. During his presentation he gave a demo of how you can use Spring boot with Java. You can find the demo here. Please try it for yourself and let us know what you think! Jesper was also kind enough to share his slides, you can finde these slides here.

Dick Eimers

Dick Eimers has over 10 years’ experience with designing and creating IT solutions. The last few years he has been working as a consultant/architect but he is still an engineer at heart! He works for Profit4Cloud, a company that helps organizations with their Cloud expertise. During his presentation he walked us through the various aspects of the Google cloud platform. You can find the demo here. Dick was also kind enough to share his slides, you can finde these slides here.

IT Dev Café - See you next time?

The next IT Dev Café is on the 25th of April, the topic of this meetup is Continuous Delivery with VSTS. This time we will watch and learn from Jeffrey Opdam who will take us through the process of building a pipeline.
