On Tuesday the 7th of April it’s all about building intelligent apps, AI services, cognitive API’s and Quantum Computing! We are honoured to have Rick van den Bosch and Ilyas Sener as key speakers. Rick van den Bosch will show us the world of intelligent apps and the use of AI services and Ilyas Sener will take us on a journey through the world of Quantum Computing.
18:30 – 19:00 Walk-in
19:00 – 19:45 Session 1: Rick van den Bosch
19:45 – 20:30 Session 2: Ilyas Sener
20:30 – 21:15 Networking + Drinks + Bites
Introduction to the topics
Wouldn’t it be great if we could have our applications see, hear, speak, understand and interpret the needs of our users? We’ll do just that in this session “Getting started with Azure Cognitive Services” as our first speaker Rick van den Bosch will tell you all about building intelligent apps using AI services and cognitive APIS.
Azure Cognitive Services are APIs, SDKs and services available to help us build intelligent applications with little to no AI or data science knowledge. They enable adding cognitive features into our applications. The goal of this session is to help you create applications that can see, hear, speak, understand, and even begin to reason. We’ll take a look at the five main pillars: Vision, Speech, Language, Web Search and Decision.
Next to the awesome things we can do with Cognitive Services, security is also very important to take into account. So for those of you concerned about confidential data going into those services, there’s going to be an extra special example at the end of the session…
About the speakers
Rick van den Bosch is a coder, but the official term is something like Principal Cloud Architect. He has been working with Microsoft Azure since it was first introduced. Next to developing cloud stuff hands-on, he has created cloud migration advises and migration strategies for customers. He also designs system architectures, coaches developers and optimizes the software development process to realize important and complex systems together with the customer.
Quantum Computing is nowadays most widely discussed but often poorly understood. Good thing is: Quantum Computers are coming!
Could you imagine? You solve problems with a speed of light. What a classic computer takes 1000 years to complete, you can achieve in just 100 milliseconds. You can find a needle in a haystack in 1 nanosecond. You can simulate molecule structures as if they are real! You can send data with the speed of light. That, and much more, is now possible with Quantum computing.
Ilyas Sener is a software engineer in heart and soul. He has more than two decades of experience in building various applications in various branches. For example, he built complex puzzles with use of AI and built PAAS / IAAS / CAAS components with Azure ARM templates. You can wake him up in the middle of the night for one thing and that is Quantum Computing, because he is passionate about the mystery and complexity of Quantum Computing. In his rare spare time he tries to make applications for Quantum Computing. He managed to teleport a Qubit! You will probably now think that it’s only possible in StarTrek series!? He will tell you all about it!
The CIRCL pavilion is built entirely based on circular principles using recycled and re-usable materials. CIRCL wants to persuade society to move towards a sustainable world by demonstrating the changes needed to create the circular economy, both in theory and in practice. In other words, thinking big by starting small.
